University of Illinois (Community Health Edu)
Hello, I'm Rachel. I am a fairly outgoing, very friendly person and I love to share what I do. In regards to my background in teaching/tutoring, my degree is in community health with an emphasis in education. Directly out of school, I worked as a District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America, teaching adults and children alike. I've always taught people about photography, sharing tips, tricks, equipment suggestions. Young or old, interested in being a professional or just wanting to take better photo's of there children, I'm always willing to lend a hand. I am able to communicate concisely and clearly a lot of technical jargon, making it fun and easy to understand. Practical, hands on lessons are usually the most effective and tend to stay in the students mind the longest. I like giving people an understanding of the basics so they can go out and explore their creativity, their timing, and focusing their vision.
I have been a professional photographer for over a decade. While I've done my fair share of portraits and weddings, I've also taken a rather unique photographic journey. I have shot fashion to forensics, sports to Presidents, events to medical photography. I have a very real understanding of not only the technical components of photography, but also the additional skills and requirements of many different genres. If you just have an interest and want to learn how to take a good picture, awesome. I can help you. If you want to become a professional and need to understand studio lighting ratio's, what lens is best to capture a football game or what's important when you shoot forensics, I can help you too! Every type of photography requires different skills and equipment. I would love to help you explore your interest and help to develop it to the level that makes you smile when you put the viewfinder up to your eye.
A major component of photography these days is Photoshop. It is true that you can accomplish practically anything with Photoshop. Take a mediocre photo to amazing, take an amazing photo to breathtaking, or come up with a completely original concept using bits and pieces from several different photos. There is no end to the possibilities.
Whether you have a bit of an interest in photography, or you are determined to make it a solid part of your future, please allow me to help you along your path. I'll share what I've learned through my experiences and allow you to go out and explore the world through a viewfinder. I hope to hear from you soon! Hello, I'm Rachel. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been a professional photographer for over a decade, shooting with both Canon & Nikon systems. I have shot everything from sports to fashion, forensics to medical photography, events to official military portraits. I have worked with adults and children, teaching them the basics of photography, and sharing how to continue on the path of great images. I have worked on cruise ships as a photographer, I have worked for the US Air Force Academy as a base photographer and I have worked for plastic surgeons as a photographer. I have experience in a lot of different fields of photography and could help people with an interest figure out where their interest lies and how to follow that interest.
