I specialize in tutoring Biology and Botany at the college and high school level. One of my goals for each session is to keep the student challenged, but not overwhelmed. The main goal of tutoring is to get the student to work independently to be successful in their given coursework, and to learn tools that can be utilized in future courses. At the end of each lesson, I give the student goals for the course and next tutoring session. I have a 24-hour required cancellation notice. I prefer to tutor at a neutral site such as library. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
