The ability to read is critical to the success of a child in school. All learning is delivered through print. Additionally students who are not reading on level by the time they graduate from third grade are flagged as "at risk". This means that due to their lack of reading achievement they are now considered a potential high-school dropout. This can be circumvented by providing students appropriate and tailored academic interventions that will speed up progress and ultimately attain on grade reading abilities. As a certified classroom teacher I know how to provide students the services they need in order to make these gains.
I have substantial classroom experience working in elementary bilingual classrooms. I love being in the classroom, however I am taking a step back so that I can be a stay at home mom. To ensure that students are focused on our tutoring session I am willing to travel to a students home, nevertheless I am willing to tutor from my home office if its less distracting. I am willing to do what makes the session the most focused and efficient.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
