University of Texas at Austin (Chemistry)
University of Chicago (Master's)
Ever since I can remember, I have had a passion for education. From a young age I enjoyed school, particularly math and science--topics that many believe to be difficult. However, I loved the challenge and wanted to pursue the most difficult disciplines I could find.
In college, I studied chemistry with an emphasis on theoretical chemistry, meaning I spent my life wearing many different hats. On any given day, I was a chemist, a physicist, a mathematician, and a computer scientist. I enjoyed being spread across so many different fields. Also, I was a TA for general chemistry at the University of Texas.
I received my Master's from the University of Chicago where I continued to study theoretical and experimental physical chemistry. There, I was a TA for general chemistry yet again winning a teaching award from the department.
I have tutored several times in the past and look forward to tutoring again. One of my strengths is being able to take complex chemical/physical problems and making them relatable to the student. I try to make science fun and entertaining while at the same time being educational. Ever since I can remember, I have had a passion for education. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have two degrees in chemistry from research 1 institutions (University of Texas, University of Chicago). I have studied chemistry for a total of 6 years, taken countless courses, TA'ed for five classes, tutored several people, and won a teaching award. My GPA in chemistry was 3.79.
I have a masters in chemistry from the University of Chicago. I received A's in both of the O-Chem courses I took at the University of Texas. I have tutored O-Chem in the past for a student taking the DAT.
Currently I am a data scientist that uses Python daily to perform various tasks ranging from web development to data analysis. I have taken a formal course in Python before and am very familiar with its basics. Also, I am familiar with NumPy, SciPy, Flask, etc.
