My experience teaching and tutoring students of all ages in a wide variety of subjects can be your advantage! An experienced classroom teacher, I have Texas teaching credentials for all-levels English-as-a-Second-Language, general subjects in 4th through 8th grades, and all-levels Music, and I've taught in all of those classrooms. In addition, my experience collaborating with special education colleagues to assist students with learning disabilities, working in both Special Ed classrooms and content-area classrooms to do so, prepares me to help a wide range of students reach their goals. Texas requires rigorous federal background checks for educator certification, so you are assured that my background is clear.
In this new age of online learning, it is very convenient for us to meet whenever needed - regardless of our locations - and I look forward to working with you to accomplish your goals!
However, as very young music students learn best when the teacher is in the same room with them, I will not agree to teach music online to students younger than 7 years. In my opinion, online music lessons are especially difficult for young students because of the demands upon their concentration and motor control, which are still developing. Students younger than 7 need to get their lessons from a qualified, local teacher with a fun and fascinating place to make music! It is best if parents get involved, too. Observe each lesson, take notes, and guide your child's practice throughout the week - leading up to the next lesson. Some general music programs might let you join in and participate - even teaching you how to help your child develop concentration and motor control more effectively. Good luck!
Otherwise, I would enjoy teaching young instrumentalists (7 and older), arrangers and composers (11 and older), and perhaps also young actors and actresses (middle grades) who want to sing and perform better. I can teach violin and viola, cello and bass, electric bass, recorder and bassoon, and I am willing to guide student
Kyle has provided examples of their subject expertise by answering 123 questions submitted by students on Wyzant’s Ask an Expert.
From the day we met Kyle, I've witnessed his effort to get to know my son and how his mind operates. Starting with the first session, he was able to get my son to engage with him and focus on his homework. After only a few sessions, Kyle has determined not only areas where my son can improve, but has created strategies for my son to follow to make those changes. Having Kyle's help has turned homework time from 6-8 hours a week to about 2.5 hours a week. Amazing. My son struggles with ADHD, Dyslexia, and Asperger's, so it's a special person who will take the time to get to know the bright child he is and offer guidance specific to his needs and abilities. I'm a fan!Theresa, 81 lessons with Kyle

Kyle is Great!
Kyle tutored my oldest son for SAT prep. We decided to work with Kyle because he was one of the few tutors that could work with him in both Math and English concepts. In each session he helped with my son identify and fill in knowledge gaps while also giving SAT test strategies and pointers. My son ultimately did great the second time he sat for the SAT. Now Kyle is working with my youngest son and I'm confident that we'll have similar results!Serenity, 27 lessons with Kyle
Knowledgeable and patient
Kyle showed me how to understand my math assignment in a simple way. I feel more confident going forward. I look forward in working with Kyle in the future. I was stressed and frustrated with my math homework before Kyle taught how to do the problems. After Kyle left I was able to complete my homework.Roberta, 2 lessons with Kyle

Highly recommend - very proactive with lessons and great with my ADHD daughter
My daughter was really struggling with math and has ADHD so her attention span and organizational skills are a bit to be desired...from the first lesson, Kyle was able to connect well with her, adjust his lesson according to her deficits, and do so in a way which worked well for a child with ADHD. He explained concepts in different ways to ensure she'd understand, he brought his own materials, and worked with tests and homework she had from school. He also worked with her on organization. He was very engaging, and did not need me (or her) to tell him specifically what to do--rather, he worked with her to figure out what needed help and stepped right in. My daughter's grade in math has improved significantly. I wouldn't hesitate to call Kyle if your child needs math help!Penelope, 4 lessons with Kyle
