In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked with the hard of hearing community for 5 years. I have my BA in Deaf Studies where I learned all about the culture and community within the hard of hearing world. I have my interpreting certification which proves I can communicate with those that use sign language. I have taken a Deaf/HOH culture class and lived in the Deaf/HOH dorms while I was in college. I was also the intern for that dorm.
