About Daniel

I speak fluent Brazilian Portuguese, moderately conversational Spanish, enough Haitian Creole to be polite, and my native language: English. I've extensively studied Latin since high school. I'm currently studying Levantine Arabic, and Russian.

I also have an Associate's degree from Valencia College where I was employed from September 2011 until January 2013 as a Learning Support Services (LSS) Tutor for international students attending the college's English for Academic Purposes program, which aims to prepare students to enter the university atmosphere confident and able to compete intellectually in the classroom without the hindrance of linguistic barriers.

This work has included reinforcing classroom activities, reviewing & correcting classwork and homework, proofreading papers, assisting with the writing & preparation of speeches, answering questions regarding American culture, and assisting students in entering into the college atmosphere comfortably.

During my year and a half as a Valencia LSS Tutor, I also served as teaching assistant to a professor of the primary level of the EAP program at Valencia College. I have worked in class offering assistance with coursework, as well as providing peer insight into college life, and when needed I have instructed the course in the absence of the professor.

I'm also an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, a Black Advisory Committee Incentive Award Scholar 2012, and a Valencia College SGA Spirit of Excellence: Service Award Nominee.
