About Jonathan

Thank you for taking the time to review my profile. I have multiple years of experience tutoring students in Texas. I have over 1,000 educational videos covering everything from Calculus and Physics to Linear Algebra, Differential Equations and beyond with a 95%-plus "like" ratio on over 1.5 million views via YouTube. I have written multiple books and am the author of the "Prep-Course" series for college level mathematics and physics.

I have been doing calculus for years and have tutored hundreds of students all over the country in the same courses and none of them are ever on the same page with material. I know more about what is going to be taught than the teachers that are teaching the course do. Also, I have tutored students in Calculus I, II and III from just about every community college, high school and university in the Dallas/Austin area. I have thousands of hours and over 5-years of experience with the full layout of the curriculum.

Usual sessions will consist of going over and finishing up homework assignments for the week. I generally work most problems in great detail so the student can fully understand the material and then I post the solutions online via my website so the student may reference the material from anywhere at anytime.

You may ask yourself why you may choose me over another tutor: I have dedicated my life to mathematics, physics and teaching and do not take it lightly. I am extremely precise and attentive to notations, proper solutions and how your teacher will present information and require information. I also make myself available via text messaging and email for additional assistance outside of sessions.

Whether you need to master the subject or just pass the course, I am the best tutor in the area. I am young and have been through all the "modern" courses in Texas and tutored hundreds of students through the same so I understand how you or your child feels when it comes to the material and process.

On another note, I am also fun, patient and a pleasant person to spend a few hours a week doing math with. To me math is like football or going to the movies and I love to help people understand it better. I tutor with humility, compassion and a sense of humor.

At UT Austin on Fridays otherwise, home visits or whatever works for both parties.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Pre-algebra, Algebra I, and Algebra II are probably the most important math classes one will take. It is essential that one understands at least 90% of the material in these subjects before moving on to Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus... One can get a good grasp of these classes with less understanding; one cannot, however, begin to approach these classes without the proper foundation.

I have been helping students improve their test scores on average 30% for over two years now. I have an ability to reiterated what most people perceive as complicated in a simple fashion which allows one to absorb the concept properly.

These three subjects, if going into a science degree, are more important that anything else; it is essential that one has a superb understanding of them.

I have multiple years experience dealing with Precalculus, Calculus I, Calculus II, advanced Calculus, and applied Calculus. As a physics major Calculus is a foundation of the math involved in advanced Calculus, one cannot properly approach these problems without a clear understanding of the methods of Calculus. If you are in need of understanding or just flying through the classes, I can make it so much simpler for you. I do not over-complicate material like teachers tend to. My motto is "keep it simple stupid", I know what to focus on and what the teachers will test you on. You will not waste time on the incorrect arrears if you work with me.

Differential Equations

Differential equations is not a difficult class, in fact if one knows how to do Calculus proficiently and understands how to "plug-and-chug" a formula DE is a breeze. I took this class over a 4 week summer course while working full time and passed it with flying colors.

As a tutor this course is the most simple to reiterate to students. I currently am working with a company on applying a transform of a first order Differential Equation with other functions involving the PID method an inputting the Laplace Transformation in order to complete a looping energy flow as a mathematical description as a second order Differential Equation.

If you are concerned about this class, you should not be. As long as your Calculus is good this class will be a breeze. I can show you how easy it is.

Linear Algebra

I have over two years of Linear Algebra experience ranging from business applications, engineering applications, and physics applications, and have created youtube videos geared towards tutoring the subject.

I have helped many students at the University of Dallas take their grades in Linear Algebra from D's, F's and worse to either a passing grade or A's. Linear Algebra is a relatively new subject so many professors just do not have the curriculum down. I have taken many Linear Algebra courses, from simple to advanced, and I have learned what is important to point out to beginners so that they do not get lost in the subject and can keep up with the course as it progresses.

Trigonometry next to Algebra, is the next most important subject as a up and coming scientist. If one is going into science related mathematics, it is crucial that they fully understand trigonometry. If one can comprehend the theories in Trig it will make the latter classes, i.e. physics, calculus… so much easier to understand and approach. I have hundreds of hours of working with trigonometric functions and concepts. If this is a subject you seem to be struggling with, I will simplify it for you.
