I am a Colombian Anthropologist but I studied in England, there I pursued a master's degree in Social Anthropology and Museum Studies. Currently, I am finishing my PhD in History at the University of Texas at Austin. At UT I am a Teaching Assistant which allows me to be in touch with students almost on a daily basis. I have taught Spanish to children and adults for several years. I can also be a tutor for Social Sciences and Anthropology, and have a long experience in the publishing field since I am a translator from English to Spanish and Spanish to English
One of my passions is to see how people learn and get confident about their progress. When students discover how easy it is to know something new their enthusiasm makes the sessions a lot of fun. The sense of accomplishment this provides is also great.

I'm very pleased with the progress our daughters have made with their Spanish lessons and they both display an increased level of confidence in their ability to understand Spanish. Jimena's teaching method is very effective for them because she invested the time to understand their personal interests. She also incorporated their interests in her lesson plans and she assigns homework regularly; which I like. Normally, our daughters groan when I ask about homework. However, when I asked them, recently, if they had started their Spanish homework, they surprised me and had already completed the assignment early; which is a testament to Jimena's innovative approach to make the lessons fun and interesting.
Great Job Jimena. We highly recommend her to others who are interested in learning Spanish.
Jimena really helped Madison understand and organize her ideas for an American History essay. She was knowledgeable, sweet and a great help! Would definitely recommend her!!
Very attentive. Always there for our daughters. Good one-on-one differentiation for each learner. Has customized a lesson plan for each of our three daughters. Very much appreciated!
I just wish that my daughter and I could have found Jimena at the beginning of the school year. In the last 6 weeks, my daughter has had a complete turn around in her 2nd year of Spanish. She's actually comprehending it and her test scores show it.
Thank you Jimena for taking the time to explain how's & why's that were never explained in the class room.
Hola Jimena, I really enjoyed the lesson this Saturday. I am in anticipation of meeting with you again. I have no doubt I will become fluent in Spanish. Your personality and demeanor is perfect for this position, as it takes patience, devotion, and a commitment to work with those like myself with little knowledge of your language. Thanks for your time and effort to get me where I would like to be. Tonnes
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I did five years in college, B.A., in Anthropology in Colombia and my undergraduate thesis became a book about the history of Anthropology in Colombia and South America. My master´s degree was obtained in the University of Cambridge, UK, in Social Anthropology with special emphasis in Museums. My master´s degree thesis is also published in a Colombian magazine.
I´ve been an Anthropology teacher in several Colombian universities, four, so I can help people understand what this subject is about. I have taught Anthropology to Architects, Biologists, Historians, Anthropologists, Nurses, Psychologists, Journalists, and many other careers. I have also taught Anthropology in high schools.
I have published several papers about my career and currently I am invited to participate in two international congresses of Anthropology.
I can teach history and development of Anthropology and all the aspects related to methodology and fieldwork, also why and how Anthropology is a different area from Philosophy, Sociology, and Social Work.
I am a Colombian Spanish tutor, I can teach either children and adults. I am very patient, easy to understand, and will make the lessons fun so people can learn Spanish easily.
Spanish is very easy language to learn you just need the right tutor to guide you and tell you the best way to get where you want to be.
