I am a Professional Educator and Translator who graduated from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee U.S.A. in 2006, with a Master’s degree in Foreign Language [French], Literature, and Translation. I have a Bachelors degree in Education, specializing in teaching and another Bachelors degree in English and French languages. Furthermore, I received a Certificate of Honors for Outstanding Achievement from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee, in February 2007, a Certificate of Recognition from the Midwest Association of Translators and Interpreters (MATI) of the U.S.A. in January 2007, and was inducted as Life Fellow into the French Language Honor Society of United States of America in 2005.
I have worked at, directed and created curriculum for French and Spanish at both the French Immersion and Harambee Community Schools in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I served Harambee Community School for eight as Dean of Studies, Instructor of French and Spanish as well as Chair of the Language Department and Coordinator of Specialty Departments. During these years, I inspired students, ESL students and colleagues to make French, English and Spanish part of their daily culture. Some of my students have tested out of beginners Spanish and French in High School and College. I was frequently called up to teach and tutor students of French and English at the Milwaukee Area Technical College, and the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Before then, I taught middle and high school French and English language in the Republic of Cameroon for six years. In addition to my linguistic formation in France, I have also had teaching, learning, and working experiences in Mexico and Costa Rica. I am published in the School Arts magazine; amongst others.
Presently, I tutor English and French and assist colleagues with problems related to instructional media at Austin Community College, TX. I serve as language trainer of English and French for the Language Trainers Cooperation. In addition, I translate, interpret, edit, and proofread for Merrill Brink International, The African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights and U.S.A. Department of Justice. I have worked as Translator/Interpreter/ Communication Officer for the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, North West Province. In this function, I translated official documents of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, North West Province from French to English and vice versa. I also wrote official bilingual communiqués for the establishment. I have interned with the UN; translating diplomatic documents from French and Spanish into English and vice versa, edited documents, and wrote précis.
My trilingual (French/English/Spanish) skills, extensive travel, studies, and experience in dealing with people of diverse backgrounds will be very useful to any student. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students.
