About Donielle

Hello! I would like to start off by introducing myself through some of my educational background. I recently graduated from Whittier College, a private liberal arts school in Southern California, with a 3.8 GPA. At Whittier I mainly took courses in Economics, Philosophy, Sociology, and Anthropology but as a high school student I also took AP Chemistry and excel in the subject as well.

I have been tutoring fellow college student for two years now and love doing it. I take immense pleasure in proofreading because I really enjoy grammar and sentence structure. I do very well in both proofreading as well as composing argumentative papers as that huge part of my philosophy major in college. I enjoy seeing the students I have worked with succeed and have developed methods of success that I personally use for studying. I take my school work very seriously but have learned to see it not as a job but as something that can be fun because I know how to relate it to what I am interested in rather than just what may be presented through books. I relish in making what I read in books come to life.

Furthermore, in my junior year of high school I took AP US History; I got an A in the course and passed the test. Other subjects I specialize in are Algebra 1, SAT math, SAT writing, and public speaking.

I am free at all hours for after-school tutoring or home-school assisted teaching.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

For the past three years I have a been a college level tutor in Philosophy and Economics. I recently graduated with a 3.8 GPA from Whittier College and have decided to continue tutoring from elementary school students to college level students. Since elementary school I have always taken my school work seriously but also know the importance of having fun with school as well.

Logic

In college I took a Symbolic Logic course where I got an A and learned how to make both letter proofs and sentence proofs that are both valid and sound. I know the different fallacies and how to prove they exist within an argument, which can be applied to all subjects and is especially helpful for debaters, philosophers, and basically every other person. I enjoy creating proofs to see if an argument is valid and sound, invalid but still sound, or invalid and unsound. I specialize in Symbolic Logic, Deductive Reasoning, Inductive Reasoning, and Philosophical Logic. I also was a philosophy major in college so I have been actively, and properly, using Logic and valid logical arguments for years.

Public Speaking

At Rio Americano High School I participated in the Mock Trial team and took Public Speaking as a freshman. In this class I received one of the highest grades and was able to captivate the class with every topic I spoke on. I am a very talented public speaker and know some of the key ingredients for a good speech. In college I took a public speaking course for my Economics major and, again, received the highest grade on all my speeches. In this course I learned even more skills for public speaking and further improved my skills. Furthermore, while, I have never had stage freight I know some great tips to overcome it.
