I have a Master's degree in chemistry, and for the past several years have been teaching introductory chemistry labs at the University of Texas at Austin. I have taught and/or tutored students on a number of levels, from introductory basics to more advanced scientific concepts. Since many chemistry problems involve mathematical manipulations, I am also very experienced in explaining algebra. And thanks to extensive time spent in an office setting, I am also proficient in using the Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), especially Excel.
I provide the following reference from Dr. Brian Anderson, Ph.D., professor of chemistry at U.T.-Austin: "Chris Orf is an energetic and enthusiastic instructor who, while having a master's degree in chemistry, still remembers what it was like to be learning chemistry for the first time. He is knowledgeable and creative in his approach to demystifying the concepts that students struggle with most. I worked with Chris for three years at UT, and I recommend him wholeheartedly."

Christopher is the best tutor I have had through WyzAnt or any other program. He was able to explain both equations and concepts in new ways that helped me understand things in two sessions that I haven't gotten with two semesters of the same class. I seriously recommend Christopher if you need help in chemistry.
Chris is a true chemistry teacher. He is a chemistry whiz and explains things so that they can be understood! I am so appreciative!
My son was panicked because his chemistry grade kept going down. He was coming up on the end of a six week test and he was certain he was going to fail the test. I called Christopher. He had two sessions with my son prior to his test - and my son ended up passing. We continued on with the tutoring. My son's confidence and enjoyment in chemistry has risen dramatically, and so has his grade. He is now getting an A minus. Christopher is fabulous.
Christopher really gets the message across, I highly recommend him. Having him one on one, with his great communication skills really has helped, thank you!
Christopher O. is a great tutor. He is very easy to schedule sessions with. He knows the material very well and is always prepared. He shows up on time and gets right to the lesson. I would highly recommend him.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
