I started out using online software for Japanese study, and decided to take a more intensive approach to my studies. I have now been working with Chiseko for a few months now, and I honestly have vastly improved in my reading, writing, and verbal comprehension. She explains things very clearly, and allows the student to learn at his/her own pace while catering their lessons to requests. On multiple occasions Chiseko has designed lessons around my desired goals, and allowed me by the end of the lesson to fully understand the material. I enthusiastically endorse Chiseko. She was the best investment I have made in my language study.
We found a perfect Japanese teacher for our three boys. Thank you for teaching them. We appreciate all of your help.
My son stated that Chiseko C was easy to work with and explained everything in a way that helped him to understand better. He also said she was very nice and he looks forward to meeting with her again!
My sons needed help with Japanese class work and she was very helpful. My boys felt comfortable; and she was very positive with them. Thank you Chiseko!
I was hesitant using a tutor for my daughter that I found on line. However, finding a tutor for Japanese on my own was proving impossible so I took a leap of faith and contacted WyzAnt. All I can say is that I am so thankful I made that call. That's how I found Chiseko C. and I couldn't be happier. Chiseko is patient, kind, and most importantly well versed in the subject. I was very impressed that at our very first session she came well prepared with material for my daughter to practice with. Chiseko is very prompt with getting back to me viva emails and phone. She was very flexible with a common meeting place and now that we have worked with her I would travel wherever she wanted to meet...she is worth it!
Chiseko is a very good tutor! She is very knowledgeable, patient, helpful, and flexible, which is a major help. She is everything you could ask for in a tutor! A life saver!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I earned an MA in Japanese from the Department of East Asian Languages and Literature at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, Hawaii where I studied teaching Japanese as a Second Language with a specialty in syntax and linguistics. One of my strengths is the ability to simplify Japanese grammar for students by providing clear and concise explanations and examples.
I was awarded a scholarship to the Linguistic Society of America Summer Institute where I studied with world-class scholars in Japanese Language and Linguistics.
In 1977, I co-published an article in PAPERS IN JAPANESE LINGUISTICS, Volume 5, with Dr. Masayoshi Shibatani, Professor Emeritus, Kobe University and current Deedee McMurty Professor and Chair of the Department of Linguistics at Rice University.
