The University of Texas at Dallas (History)
Hi! I'm Madiina and I am a graduate from UTD. I have a passion for learning new things and sharing my knowledge and methods of learning with others! My hobbies include drawing, reading, hiking, and going to the movies. I have been a private tutor for several year and I also volunteered at the Boys & Girls club as a tutor. My specializations are in History, Literature, and Writing.
I love tutoring because it provides a one-on-one interaction between the tutor and the student that might not be available in an average classroom. In a tutoring setting, the student is getting the attention necessary for success without distraction form others. This one-on-one learning allows the tutor to enhance the strengths of a student and fill in any gaps the tutor might come across.
As a private tutor, I was responsible for helping primarily Arabic speaking clients excel in vocabulary and reading skills. Coming from a non-Arabic speaking background I had to approach vocabulary creatively and in a manner that the clients would understand. Likewise I spent time as a teachers assistant at Plano ISD in an ESL classroom, where I assisted students in expanding and becoming comfortable with reading and writing at their grade level. I find that vocabulary and reading can be fun and exciting when you approach it as a way of linking people together.
As a history major I was able to explore historical narrative whilst thinking and writing critically about the topics discussed. My undergraduate experience was focused on primarily American and Chinese history, but I have knowledge in European and world history as well. I also spent time as a teachers assistant in Social Studies classes at Plano ISD, where I assisted students and helped the primary teacher create a lesson plan.
I have a passion for education and learning new things in general! I look forward to working together to explore and strengthening your talents! Feel free to contact me if you are interesting in scheduling a lesson or have any questions. Hi! I'm Madiina and I am a graduate from UTD. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
