I am a certified math and science middle school teacher who really enjoys spending that one on one time with students so they can have their light bulb moments. I believe success starts with good organization, can only happen if the student learns how to process their way through each task and ends with persistence. I have a child in high school, middle school and elementary so though I've only taught 6-12th grades (all of them) I have those mom skills that help me reach the younger students too. I am patient and flexible and am looking forward to helping your student achieve their goals.
The main reason I have had success with tutoring math students is my ability to teach students the processes they must go through to complete problems. The answer isn't just the answer - "just because", there is a reason and a way to get there and if no one ever shows the student "how" to get to the answer, personal success will not be obtained.
I have a passion for science and how it explains the functions of the world around us. Again, my success comes in helping students understand the information combined with its relevance. If it has relevance then students have more of an ability to retain it.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
