Is there anything better than overcoming a fear? The old adage still stands that people fear public speaking as much as death. Back when I was in high school I could relate, but now, many years later it has become one of my greatest strengths and a profession! Seeing the light bulb turn on for a student and watching them have an "Aha!" moment is my reason for tutoring. Helping you become better prepared for the professional world is something I'm passionate about whether its through your presentation skills, interviewing.
We will start with an initial consultation to find out where you are at in terms of speaking experience and/or career goals. We will set milestones and specific, measurable goals. I ask questions to help you critically think and discover answers that allow you to take ownership. We will have you video record yourself delivering presentations and review them so I can give you feedback. We'll cover stage presence, eye contact, understanding your audience, and much more. My goal for you is excellence. You should expect no less of yourself. Sessions will be informative and fun. You'll have homework and will show up prepared. I have a 24 hour cancellation, but I understand emergencies happen.
I have been fortunate to work with high school and college students in my 5 years of experience as a college admissions counselor. I have given over 300 classroom presentations. I have workshops on professionalism, financial aid, and college research. I also have 6 years of youth ministry and teaching Sunday School classes where I gave tests and quizzes. I have a growing speaking business and give inspirational messages. I also have experience delivering on camera; both industrial, commercial, and performance along with voice over experience.
Lastly, I have 5 years of experience as an emcee for weddings and corporate events. All of this and I still attend workshops, listen to podcasts, watch videos and read up on improving my public speaking!
Having worked in college admissions for 5 years I have had the opportunity to interview hundreds of students about their career choices and offer guidance. I have worked in various fields, from the creative arts to Fortune 500 companies, from education to staffing companies. In every setting I have built a reputation as a consummate professional and have not burned bridges. I can teach you to do the same.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you go to the next level! Is there anything better than overcoming a fear? The old adage still stands that people fear public speaking as much as death. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
