Math and Sciences - Engineer
I graduated from the University of Oklahoma in May 2014 with my bachelors in Petroleum Engineering and my minor in Geology. Through my course of study, I have taken many classes in math and science. Among these classes are: Calculus I-IV, Differential Equations, Numerical Methods, Geology, Geophysics, Fluid Mechanics, Reservoir Fluid Properties, etc. I have knowledge of grade school math (pre-algebra, algebra 1 & 2, pre-calculus, calculus) and science (biology, anatomy and physiology,...

Among these classes are: Calculus I-IV, Differential Equations, Numerical Methods, Geology, Geophysics, Fluid Mechanics, Reservoir Fluid Properties, etc. I have knowledge of grade school math (pre-algebra, algebra 1 & 2, pre-calculus, calculus) and science (biology, anatomy and physiology, geology, physical sciences). I also performed well on my standardized tests (SAT and ACT - all subjects).
I have tutored students in a variety of subjects and have found that the tutoring approach differs from student to student. Therefore, I like to observe the student and identify where mistakes are being made (if any) and correct the behavior through explanation and positive reinforcement. I have a true love and passion for math and science and I feel that is important in a teacher/tutor. In the past I have tutored in math, science, reading, grammar, history, and standardized testing.
First Lesson / First Impression
My son's least favorite subject has always been math, and his grade reflected his level of interest. I wanted to find a tutor who would personally connect with my son and help change his opinion about math - a core subject. Katharine was prompt and attentive during our first session. She quietly redirected my son's work and managed to get an assignment that would normally take him 3 days to complete, done in 1 hour. My son left the tutoring session excited about math and ready to return for additional tutoring. My goal is for him to gain personal confidence in his math skills, and I think that Katharine has what it takes to help him accomplish that goal.Megan, 9 lessons with Katharine
My daughter felt that Katharine was very helpful and did a good job explaining things to her. She was through and easy to understand.Elizabeth, 9 lessons with Katharine
Katharine does a great job.
She has really helped Katie along. The one on one teaching allows her to have confidence she has the concepts and steps captured.Don, 4 lessons with Katharine
Friendly and knowledgable. She can put a student at ease.
Katharine is tutoring my granddaughter Jordyn in handwriting. I tried to stay out of their way during the session but afterwards I asked Jordyn what she thought She liked Katharine and the methods she used to help her. We look forward to continuing with Katharine in handwriting as well as other subjects.Stephen, 4 lessons with Katharine
I really needed a quick turn-around in my understanding of pre-calculus, and Katharine was able to jump in and help me get on track. So far, so good with tests and quizzes!Thad, 4 lessons with Katharine
She is the one for science!
My daughter is in Junior High (7th) and science is the subject that she shows no interest in at all, so science projects are always a challenge for her. I'm glad that we found Ms. Katharine. She obviously is knowledgeable. My daughter only had 2 long lessons with her but already gave great compliments: patience, articulate, very up to date with current technology (study tools). Though Katharine's schedule is not as flexible as we wish it to be, we are happy that she takes her time doing tutorial consultations via emails and texts. My daughter is still currently finishing her science project with this tutor and highly recommend her to whoever needs help with science.Gigi, 5 lessons with Katharine
