West Texas A&M (Psychology)
West Texas A&M University (Enrolled)
Hello, I am a graduate student at West Texas A&M University. I have been tutoring statistics for just over 5 years now. I have experience tutoring stats for a wide variety of fields (Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Political Science, Business, Nursing, Agriculture, Math, and Environmental Science).
My background is research-oriented and I am skilled in SPSS, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. I am versed in a wide array of statistical procedures including, but not limited to, descriptive statistics, inferential statistics (including both parametric and non-parametric), and power analysis.
Over the years, I have worked with students that have varied greatly in their skill level and needs. This opportunity has allowed me to develop the skill necessary to be able to present each concept in a clear and precise style designed to minimize the feelings of dread that can come with stepping into the world of statistical analysis.
I earned my first degree in Psychology locally at West Texas A&M University. In my previous role as a graduate assistant, I taught many general psychology classes (including the development and grading of the exams) over the years. However, general psychology is not the extent of my experience; I have also guest lectured in many courses including, but not limited to, Experimental Psychology, Learning, Philosophy of Science, Assessment, History and Systems of Psychology, and many more.
Over the course of my tutoring, I have gained considerable skill in using many different statistical programs including Excel and in demonstrating their use to my students.
I know many people come to statistics with some real concern about their ability to learn such material; with this in mind, one of my earliest goals is to demystify the field of statistical analysis and to help focus students on the development of a set of proficient skills through clear and unambiguous goals. He is super knowledgeable. He tries to deliver the information by giving many different examples that facilitate learning process and make sure that I understand the lesson. He explained a quantitative article very well. He gave me a very useful note. I do appreciate that.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have tutored statistics for over 5 years and have consulted with many different areas in practice, especially as an a priority power analyst for research designs.
