I love Information technology. At age 16 I built my first computer from a kit and taught myself to program in BASIC. In the early 90's I bought my first IBM based PC and haven't looked back. I have been using the Microsoft Office suite since 1995 and have become something of an expert, I have been building websites since the same time, although I wouldn't call myself a website programmer, I have designed, built and currently host and maintain several business and personal sites. Whether it be building, repairing, using a computer, or setting up a network, I can help. I've been working in technology for over 30 years. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been building, programming and operating computers since 1978. My experience includes: building my own Sinclair ZX81 computer from scratch, learning to program in BASIC on a Commodore Pet, running multi computer networks at home and at many of my places of employment. Since 1993 I have been using Microsoft, Lotus, and Claris Office software, gaining an extensive knowledge of MS Office. I have built and upgraded numerous PC’s and provided technical support for family, friends and businesses.
I have worked with Dreamweaver for 12 years designing and maintaining sites for myself and clients.
I have been networking computers since 2000. Beginning with networking my home computers, then at my place of work, designing and building a 30 computer windows 2000 domain based network. I currently run my own IT company and do contract work through several online IT technician recruiting companies (OnForce, Field Solutions, WorkMarket and others). In the course of my own and my contract work, I regularly wire and configure routers, switches and servers, domestic and commercial.
I am adept at using Adobe Dreamweaver, Microsoft Frontpage and writing html code. I have been designing and building websites since the late 1990's. I haven't delved much into PHP, Java or CSS, although I do use pre built frameworks that incorporate these and alter them to suit some sites I build.
