I enjoyed it so much I have four college degrees. I have a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership, a Master's degree in Education, a Bachelor's degree in Education with a major in History and a minor in Diverse Populations (Special Education), and an Associate's of Science degree in General studies with many of the classes focused on English, and Psychology.
I enjoy learning and I enjoy helping other's to achieve their ultimate learning goals. I have experience teaching in special education where I taught special needs students with a variety of learning disabilities. In addition, I have taught Head Start, Kindergarten, students 6-12th grades, and served as an adjunct at a university. I have been in the educational/teaching field for many years, and aspire to continue working in education for many more years to come.
English was actually my desired major at one point in my college career; however I decided to switch majors and focus on history. I have always enjoyed everything regarding the English language, reading, and vocabulary. I have several mini-libraries set up in my home, and my entire house is filled with delightful books of all subjects/topics. Reading is one of my favorite pastimes.
I served as a special education teacher for the past ten plus years. I am a certified special education teacher and am well-versed on working with special needs students on a one to one basis. I understand the need for individualization, patience, re-teaching, working with IEP's, etc. I am naturally soft-spoken, therefore most special needs students are comfortable with my approach and teaching style. I always show the student respect while at the same time, being firm and keeping the student focused on the lesson.
Students, if you need and desire extra academic help and want to exceed in your desired subjects, I truly believe I am person to help you. I have been in the educational field for the past 30 years in a variety of setting and grade levels. I would like the opportunity to help you achieve your academic/educational goals. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
