About Daniel

I recently graduated with an undergraduate degree in Physics and Math. During this crazy journey, I spent a lot of time working with the Society of Physics students where I often performed demonstrations of physics phenomena for audiences ranging from pre-school to college age. Recently, I've begun assisting my mother in her ACT coaching business by tutoring students in particular need of help.

During high school, I spent enormous amounts of time studying for the ACT, eventually bringing my score up to a 33. During college, I majored in mathematics and physics, giving me expertise in all subjects mathematical. As a physics major, I have expertise in physics and I've also worked as a teacher's assistant in a physical science classroom, helping to answer student's questions.

Besides math and physics, I'm also a decent programmer, having spent time working in Python, C++, Matlab, and other languages. I'm also a decent self-taught juggler, able to proficiently juggle 3-balls and barely able to juggle 4-balls and clubs.

My interest in tutoring stems from seeing the crucial skills gap that physical science students would come into the classroom with. I would help 18-20 year old students with their work and realize that they couldn't do pre-algebra level material. Sadly, the case today is that many students don't receive the help that they need, and in fact most students only need a little help. Studies suggest that the reason most math students struggle in higher grades is because they didn't understand a fundamental concept they were taught years back. Consequently, they struggle and are passed from class to class, never receiving the help they need. My goal as a tutor, then, is to not just help students with the homework they struggle with today, but to help correct misunderstandings they've struggled with for years.

Modern schooling demands more and more of students, no matter their grade level. Expectations rise all the time and sometimes students just need a little bit of help to get through the rough patches. So if you're interested in getting extra help for you or your child, or just want master a new subject, contact me for success.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have extensive experience preparing for college entrance exams, having studied for and scored a 213 on the PSAT, a 2180 on the SAT, and a 33 on the ACT. In the ACT Math sub-test I managed to score a 31 as my highest score.

C++

I've worked in C++ to develop physics simulations during a summer-long internship. Since then I've helped Computer Science students understand C++ better and achieve higher scores as a result.

Physics

I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Honor's Physics and Mathematics. I have experience tutoring individuals in College Physics.

Precalculus

I graduated my high school as a Salutatorian with a straight-A GPA, scored a 33 on my ACT, and majored in two mathematics intensive subjects--Mathematics and Physics--in college.

Flexible tutor

Great job helping my son Christian at the University of Tennessee; very flexible when it comes to times and dates, as well, will try to help research items that are needed.
