Career Development,

Career Development

In addition to my teaching degree, I hold a certificate in Life Coaching. Career Development is one area in which I have coached and consulted clients. I first help them explore their strengths, talents, and desires. I then help them navigate their career path, and adjust their course through the process. This entails figuring out where they are and where they want to go, then figuring out how to get there. This plan includes figuring out what education or training is needed, and planning the action steps that must be taken along the way.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I have taken courses in Public Speaking, and I have used the skills I learned there in my teaching career, as a teacher trainer, and in my personal coaching. I am skilled at preparing a presentation, speech delivery, and dealing with performance anxiety. More importantly, I can teach these skills and coach students through the process of becoming confident and effective public speakers.

Swimming

As a teen, I took and passed a Junior Lifesaving course. I took a swimming class in college. I am an avid swimmer and taught all of my four children how to swim. I took my oldest child at 10 months old for swimming lessons and learned how to teach him to swim to safety if he fell in and how to teach him to actually swim. I have an understanding of strokes, safety, and having worked with children in multiple capacities, I understand how to encourage students without stressing them too much.
