My Motto: With each concept I did not know, there’s always a journey. Even if I don't know something, I will strive to learn it. This motto has proven to be very invaluable… even early on throughout high school as I received a full academic scholarship to a well respected and prestigious university.

It's an important quality for someone to know a lot, but I find that the most important quality is an undying motivation to help a student get better and to find a common ground so that a student can relate and retain the information.

This is what I bring to the table.

As a graduate of Transylvania University, I understand the struggles that school life presents. Either the teacher doesn't explain things in a way the student understands, or the student happens to lack the motivation necessary to be successful in that class. Keeping this in mind, I will provide the best structure, information, and strategy(ies) possible to give your student ultimate success in their math class.

I have tutored various levels of math at various ages/abilities. My tutoring first started when I was in high school in an after school program. Mainly, I would help with algebra (1 and 2) and Geometry. Occasionally, I would venture over to the adjacent middle school to help with pre-algebra related issues. When I entered college, I sought purpose. I decided to continue tutoring.

After that, I have been a tutor for college students at Transylvania University helping with more and more subjects as I progressed through my major (Mathematics). Currently, in addition to high school level subjects, I can help with Calculus (I,II,III), Linear Algebra, and most Mathematics topics in general.

I have worked with students in the K-6 grade level who had trouble with organization and study skills. As one might imagine, the two go hand in hand. Being prepared and organized lends well to having good study skills. The tutor can give the student the tools to succeed, but without good study skills, a student is not going to do well. I understand this and emphasize it in my teaching.

my son learned a lot

Athan has only had one tutor before Devin but he said he really seem to understand and learned more from Devin so we are very happy with him so far

Nathan, 1 lesson with Devin

Help with Calc 3

my daughter was pleased with the help received. I was impressed that the tutor arrived prepared and interested in understanding the specific help my child needed

Excellent Tutor

Devin taught me some of the basics of using the python programming. He clearly explained the topic that I was struggling with, and gave me some great pointers on the lesson. Last week's session went very well. I rate this tutor as excellent, and can't wait to working with him again this week.

Carl, 5 lessons with Devin

Great tutor.

Devin was really great at explaining information with my daughter about her Algebra 2. He was very patient and when she didn't understand he explained in a way that she finally got it.

Great Help for ACT Math

Devon was a great help to my daughter for reviewing ACT Math problems. We are hoping for great things when she sits for the ACT again. Thanks for the flexibility you provided in meeting with her.

Great tutor!

I took calculus 1 last semester and found it to be very difficult. I ended up with a not so pleasing grade, so I'm retaking it this semester. I just got my first test back and I made an A on it. I can give a lot of this credit to Devin. He's a great tutor. He's very good at explaining concepts I could not grasp last semester. He's very knowledgeable on the subject and patient. He's also really nice. Great experience.

Tutor responded:

One of my favorite students to work with. She is very proactive in making sure that she is sufficiently prepared well in advance for the class. Here's to hoping there are others out there with the same inspiring work-ethic and drive.

Excellent tutor!

My 11 year old son had brought home a poor grade in pre-algrbra. I was beside myself. I knew he was intelligent but obviously was missing connections that could be made with one-on-one help. I've always helped my son with his homework but I'm not a teacher, and especially not math one! I decided to hire a tutor and found Devin. Thank goodness I did. My son went to an A within 3 tutoring sessions!!! As an adult returning to college myself I understand there isn't a price that can be put on a solid educational foundation, especially math since it only builds on what you previously have learned. We can't thank Devin enough! My son is SO confident of himself now and actually looks forward to learning more math skills instead of trying to hide his homework like he did before.
