For the past 15 years I have been involved in professional pastoral ministry. My experience of pastoring a diversity of churches and congregations, along with extensive experience in pastoral, pre-marital and marital counseling, and life coaching has given me a broad scope of skills to help people in their life journeys. I have had experience in teaching and counseling elementary, middle school, high school, collegiate, and adult constituencies.
I have a BA in Theology with a Minor in Biblical Languages (Greek & Hebrew). I also have a Masters of Divinity degree. These degrees have an emphasis on biblical exegesis and applied theology. I am versed in New Testament & Old Testament theology with an emphasis on ethics and interpersonal relationship principles found therein.
I have a passion for helping people reach the great potential to which they were created to attain. As a result I focus on helping people develop authentic, vibrant, and deep relationships with others through better understanding age old principles that will improve their lives, guide and build relationships, and help them succeed in all they do in life. There are four core values that guide my approach to teaching and coaching and provide added benefit beyond just the acquisition of knowledge.
I believe that we are inherently creative beings, with a desire to improve our environments in creative ways that have a very real and positive influence upon our world and others. Thus I seek to help people tap into their creative potential to find creative solutions to challenges they face.
In a world where some would argue that disingenuousness and hypocrisy seem to be the norm, it is ever more important to be authentic and transparent with one another. It is my desire to model authenticity, encourage people to ask difficult questions, and live a life that is honest and real with other people.
In connection to authenticity comes integrity. I place a high value upon integrity, and encourage my students to live lives in such a way that is consistent, honest, and congruent with what they claim and believe.
To see people grow, mature, and move into healthy independence, has been one of the greatest rewards in my life and career. I love encouraging people to grow as leaders, thinkers, movers, and shakers, in their community and world.
Whether it be public speaking, learning history, Greek & Hebrew, or simply how to use a Mac, I enjoy every opportunity that I have to lead others on the journey of learning and understanding. I encourage students to challenge their own presuppositions and prejudices that might hinder their opportunity to better understand themselves and the world in which they live. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken Biblical Archaeology studies as part of my undergraduate and graduate degrees. As part of my studies I have traveled to Israel & Jordan to view important archaeological sites related to biblical events and times. I have done independent studies in archaeology and ancient cultures for over 15 years and have included aspects of my discoveries in countless public presentations.
I have focused my studies in Biblical Archaeology and studies in commonalities between cultures that are traditionally considered isolated and unconnected, in particular Egyptian, Central and South American cultures.
I have been studying the Bible for more than 25 years. I have Theological degrees and have done extensive research into Bible history, theological interpretations, and application of scripture. I can instruct individuals in how to study the Bible topically, exegetically, or inductively, with an emphasis on practical life application.
I have been a substitute teacher for in both public and private schools for grades K-12. I have taught english, science, math, social studies, history & religion classes. I have had a broad range of educational and professional work experiences that allow me to connect well with children of all ages.
In pursuit of my Masters of Divinity I have taken over 4 semesters worth of classes in Greek language and have used it for Bible study, scriptural interpretation, and sermon preparation. I can help student who need help with Introductory Greek focusing on learning the alphabet, basic vocabulary, parsing, and grammar.
In pursuit of my Masters of Divinity I have taken over 4 semesters worth of classes in Hebrew language and have used it for Bible Study, scriptural interpretation, and sermon preparation. I have previously substitute taught Hebrew classes, and have led Hebrews study groups.
For a student needing help in Biblical Hebrew I can provide guidance with introductory Hebrew topics such as learning the alphabet, basic vocabulary, parsing, and grammar.
I have been a Mac user for over 10 years and am skilled and knowledgeable in all versions of Mac OS 10.0 - 10.8 and Apple's iLife and iWork suites including a full range of other third party software releases. I have had extensive experience with just about all of Apple's hardware offerings over the past decade and even some some hardware repair experience as well.
I have had extensive experience in tutoring people in how to use Apple Hardware and Software. I have counseled people in making Apple hardware purchases and have provided one on one support and consultation for setup and continued used of their products.
I have had extensive experience for over 20 years in public speaking and sermon delivery. I have been invited to speak for various events and occasions all across the United States and even overseas. I can help individuals learn the fundamentals of powerful and confident public speaking, sermon creation, speech preparation and delivery.
I have BA in Theology, and a Masters of Divinity specializing in Biblical Languages, applied theology, and biblical Hermeneutics. I have taught countless bible classes, and have taught and lectured in biblical topics for over 20 years.
