About Sarah

Sarah, here.
I tutor just about any subject through grade 12. However, my specialty is mathematics.
Fun and Outgoing personality. Electrical Engineering student at UTC.
I have tutored several times before - and I prefer to do sessions of 2 hours at a time, to allow proper time for subject coverage, and determining what a child does or does not know - as well as their individual learning style. It also allows time in case we have difficulties and other means of teaching need to be utilized. I have taught children - alongside my mother - in a classroom setting, from gifted children to those who need the extra boost of help. I even have some experience with autistic children.
I do not have a teaching license. However, I have had 10 plus years of tutoring experience starting in middle school. I have worked with people of all ages, including adult college students.
As an electrical engineering student, I will also tutor physics and circuits.
Can't wait to hear from you! :)

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

After taking the ACT three times in high school, I began tutoring in what not to do on the ACT math portion and how to finish the test in time, without missing skipped questions. After my sophomore year in college I decided to take the ACT again just to see if my score could be improved by applying everything I had learned about standardized testing. After following all of my own directions, I received a composite score that had increased by a full three points; thus supporting the fact that my tutoring was making a difference in others' scores.

At Milwaukee School of Engineering, I took a course in AutoCAD Architectural and received an A letter grade. I currently work at Denso Manufacturing Tennessee as an Electrical Engineering Co-op, where I use AutoCAD Electrical on a daily basis to complete schematics of factory machinery.

At Milwaukee School of Engineering I took a course in programming in C++ for Arduino UNO. My grade in this course was an A-. Upon transferring to the University of Tennessee Chattanooga engineering school, I enrolled in and completed a programming course in simple C structured programming using the compiler DevC++. In this course, I receive an A letter grade.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am an Electrical Engineering student at UTC. I have tutored children in all subjects from ages 6 through 15, and on up into adulthood. I get along great with children, and am a respected babysitter in my community. I have helped teach students in a Physically & Mentally Handicapped class (grades 2 through 5) alongside my mother at a school in Florida.

Linear Algebra

I am an Electrical Engineering student at UTC and have taken two Linear Algebra courses in college. My mother often allows me to teach her section of Linear Algebra in her Algebra 2 class, at a high school level.

I have played piano for five years now. I have had a year of experience teaching beginners piano.

Study Skills

As an engineering student, with a 3.85 GPA, I have developed stellar study and organizational skills. My teachers often commend me for my clean, uncluttered binders and high test scores. As for studying for tests, standardized or otherwise, you find patterns in the subject - which often leads to better scores. This is particularly true for studying for ACT or other standardized tests.

Will Definitely Use Her Again! — College Algebra - University of Tennessee - Chattanooga: Sarah was awesome to help on short notice. She made my son understand what the problem was and how to handle the problem. She got him to organize his problem and to think through the process so that he doesn't make simple mistakes. Hoping for good things with the test. Fingers are crossed!!! Will DEFINITELY be using Sarah again in the futu ...
