As a tutor, my first goal is to understand what success means for each student. From there, I customize lesson plans and a tutoring program to help each individual reach their goals. My one consistency is bringing energy and enthusiasm to everything I do. While I value the connection between hard work and positive results, I truly believe learning and bettering oneself should be fun.

I have tutored both middle school and high school math and science as well as provided ACT/SAT test prep. As a PhD student, I taught college level biology for four years. Now as a post-doctoral researcher at Vanderbilt, I am hoping to continue working with and educating students as a tutor. I am open to both one-off, individual tutoring sessions as well as recurring meetings.

My experience as a math tutor spans several years, and I am comfortable helping with both middle school and high school level math. I take pride in finding a way to explain concepts in a relatable way so each student grasps and remembers how to approach specific problems. I have also tutored students on the math portions of the SAT/ACT, focusing on how to quickly identify what the question is asking and how to efficiently get to the right answer. As a student myself, I scored a 780 on the SAT with a perfect 36 on the ACT.

As a PhD student, I taught eight college level biology lab courses, and mentored four students which included overseeing their experiments and helping with coursework when asked. One of my students is currently in Columbia University's PhD program for Biology, two are currently in Master's programs and the fourth is applying to medical schools. My research focused on the structure/function relationship of ion channels. I am well versed in protein structure, protein-protein interactions and maintenance of membrane potential. However, I am comfortable teaching all aspects of biochemistry.

Thank you for reading my profile and considering me as a tutor. If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to discussing your goals so we can come up with a plan to help you achieve them together.
