I'm a PhD Student in Economics with a love for learning and teaching economics and mathematics. As a doctoral student at Vanderbilt, I have the opportunity to serve as a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate courses in economics, where I help students to learn difficult concepts and work through tough problems. The preparation I went through in college for my program, the courses I have subsequently taken in grad school, and my tutoring experience all combine to provide me with the knowledge and experience to provide great assistance for students in need. My tutoring experience above what I do as a TA includes tutoring privately, for the quantitative and reasoning center in undergrad at Colorado College, and some volunteer work at the local high school helping students with math.

I have a very flexible schedule and would love to help! Please reach out!

Matthew is great

We worked on industrial organization. Matthew quickly understood the specific way my professor teaches and helped me a lot. Highly recommend for anyone taking microeconomics or related micro subjects.

Knowledgeable Tutor

Matthew knew the material very well and explained all of the tough concepts using simple diagrams, which made the material more approachable. He was helpful with explaining concepts as well as solving problem set questions.

Excellent tutor

Excellent tutor, really helped prep for an exam and although we only had a small amount of time it was well spent.

Final Preparation

Went over numerous topics today without making any of it feel overwhelming or confusing. Matthew did a great job connecting today’s topics to the ones we went over in the past, really solidifying the lesson.

Great Tutor!!!

Matthew has been helping me tremendously with my Microeconomics Theory course which I’m taking at UCLA right now. He’s very clear in his explanations and walks you through each step thoroughly. Thanks again, Matthew.

Great Tutor!

Matt went over the concepts and helped clarify a number of issues. He is able to explain the things I do not grasp so I have a better understanding of the material. He prepares fro our lessons so I really feel like he understands what is expected in a fast paced challenging course.

Great teacher

Matthew takes daunting topics seem really easy. He is extremely clear, easygoing and approachable with questions. As someone who is not a fan of statistics, he gives me confidence that I could actually do well in this field and applies it to things I’m already interested in.

Great instructor

Matthew helped me a lot in understanding the concepts before my exam. He took the time to explain each step and gave examples of his own which made the material easier to grasp. I highly recommend him!

Patient and Clear Instructor

Matthew helped me understand my econometrics homework, as the theory learned in class did not always translate to the application of the homework. He was really patient going through the economics and math behind the equations and the STATA, and also explained things in many different ways when I did not understand the material. Highly recommend !
