About Diana

I'm a lifelong learner with a B.A. in Communication and a M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration. For as long as I can remember, I've helped friends, colleagues, and strangers find the perfect words to get their point across, whether it be on a class assignment, college essay, cover letter, or resume.

My style is direct and personalized because I love stories, a passion that allows me to help individuals uncover their unique "hook" and effectively communicate it to an audience. For the students I work with, I highlight areas of weakness in their writing, provide strategic questions that prompt new ideas, and offer suggestions for ways to better express their thoughts. Words matter. Let me help you find the right ones.

I'm available to meet in person and/or via email, video chat, or online document sharing, all with a quick turnaround time. Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have and I look forward to working with you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Career Development

As a university administrator who serves on a number of search committees, I have reviewed and analyzed hundreds of cover letters and applications. When you're looking to fill a position you become well versed in the pitfalls and triumphs of job applicants, whether it be formatting and buzzwords or storytelling and applicable experiences. Cover letters and resumes are the first - and sometimes only - chance job seekers have to impress their potential boss and coworkers. I know this and have helped others successfully launch and continue their careers.

College Counseling

As a college administrator, I've earned my M.Ed. in higher education administration with a focus on policy and student affairs. Since that time I have worked with students through the college selection and application process. My process starts by helping students think realistically about their goals and challenging them to dream big when it comes to possibilities. Writing plays a major role in this as they look to craft their admissions essays and select individuals to serve as recommenders. I help with that as well. College is a major step, whether it be at the undergraduate or graduate level, and I enjoy helping students embark on the journey.

Public Speaking

As an undergraduate student, my main area of focus was communication and public relations. Since that time I have given presentations to audience sizes ranging from individuals to small groups (<10) to large audiences (>300) as a function of my role as a university administrator. When speaking to an audience, I've learned that the most important thing is to share a "what" and a "why" - what are you telling them and why should they care? As a public speaking tutor, I work with clients to help them channel the nerves that will undoubtedly come into a passion that the audience can connect with. I help them figure out their own "what"s and "why"s so that can be translated to others and I help them cater their message to the audience they're looking to engage with.
