About Trevor

I am a second generation professional musician from Cincinnati, Oh. I completed an undergraduate degree from Northern Kentucky University in Jazz Studies and am currently pursuing my graduate studies at Belmont University in Commercial Performance.

In his first year at Northern Kentucky I secured a position playing in a local horn band specializing in rock n' roll, dance, and popular music. After two years, I began to sub for another band in the Cincinnati Area.

Also while at Norther Trevor started a band with his younger brother. This band provided a fresh take on many of the popular songs from 1970 to present. This band enjoyed success almost immediately by playing shows for the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame Ceremony and collaborating on multiple showcases.

Nearing the end of my tenure at Northern Kentucky, I became involved with a local country/pop band. As a member of this group, I began to develop skills as a background singer.

During my under graduate career I worked with multiple local public schools giving lessons and working with marching bands. I have teaching experience at all levels of academia and has worked with students of all ages.

I have two performance degrees and 10 years of performing experience on the saxophone and doubles. I have studied in depth Classical Music History, Jazz History, and the History of Commercial Music. I specialize in Jazz and Commercial styles, however, I am also a competent classical saxophonist. Finally, I have a background in Music theory.

My goal is for students to learn as much as possible while still having fun playing and studying music.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Ear Training

At NKU our aural skills program was extremely rigorous. The culminating test was sight singing a 12-tone row. I also have done some work identifying functional harmony (ex. chord changes and resolutions) by identifying the chromatic tones in relation to the local key areas.
