Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Phonics

As a certified K-12 exceptional educator, one of the critical skilled areas that I teach is phonics. I have thus, studied and has taught phonics for the past ten years as a private tutor and as a school teacher. I'm still a teacher in Stratton Elementary (Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools), and I taught phonics this past school year (2016/17).

Reading

I'm a certified exceptional educator (K-12) in the State of Tennessee. Reading is one of the critical subject areas in exceptional education, as it poses the biggest challenge to students with exceptional needs. And as an exceptional elementary educator, I employ some of the best research-based instructional approaches in order to help my students achieve their reading objectives. Specific areas of focus include sight words fluency, word recognition, vocabulary, reading fluency, and reading comprehension.

Special Needs

I hold a masters degree (M.Ed) in exceptional education (K-12) about ten years ago with Tennessee State license. Before my employment with Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools,I served as a substitute teacher in the greater Nashville area for more than five years. I currently have a case load of about twelve students where I put together their IEPs, plan and deliver lessons according to each child's individual area of need.
