Watkins College of Art, Design, and Film (Photography)
I am a recent college graduate from Watkins College of Art, Design, and film, who has a knack for making books and alternative ways of making printed images.
My degree is in Photography, but I dabble in many ways of creating art. Throughout my college career, I brainstorming and critiquing with one individual or many other students was the most helpful, engaging, and thought-provoking feedback that helped me learn and grow as a person as well as an artist. Needless to say, I have a critical thinking approach to teaching based on discussion, demonstration, action and mild critique. Depending on what the student wants to learn, I can instruct on the technical aspects of photography, either film or digital image making; using various assignments to highlight new understandings of basic camera mechanics like ISO, aperature, and shutter speed. Also, how to use external lighting to enhance your images. I can instruct on Photoshop and Lightroom software editing and basic retouching skills. I can instruct on alternative processes of printmaking, as well as, teach many ways to make books through several binding techniques.
I would love to hone my teaching skills by collaborating and sharing what I've learned in school with a willing and energetic individual. I'm an open minded, driven, and independent person who's excepting of all people, which is just another way of saying that I get along with a wide range of personalities. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you might have for me. I'm excited to help you develop your art practice. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
