Michigan Technological University (Mathematics)
For many years I taught a variety of High School math and science courses. Precalculus and Physics were always my favorite because I love to make difficult content fun and approachable. Over the years I have taught Pre-algebra, Algebra, Algebra II, Geometry, Precalculus, and College readiness math. Working with students has always been a passion of mine and I believe the tutor must possess a great amount of patience so the student can work confidently and make sure they are comfortable asking questions. In addition, I joined AmeriCorps out of college and worked with Middle School special education students.
For the last three years I have tutored at Sylvan Learning Center. My time was spent working one on one or in small groups. During the school year I did a lot of homework help sessions and ACT prep. Summers were spent mostly working with elementary aged students with their math and reading. The tutoring environment allows me to get to know a student on a more meaningful level so that I can more easily find where they are having trouble, as well as best relate the information to their specific interests.
I have extensive education in mathematics and I have taught over 12 courses in the high school setting. My background in ACT prep helped many students improve their scores and feel more confident in themselves.
I have a very flexible schedule and am willing to work around your needs. If you are in need of a more personal approach to learning, please contact me. I look forward to meeting you! For many years I taught a variety of High School math and science courses. Precalculus and Physics were always my
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
