Cedarville University (BM in Performance)
I began my musical studies at the age of 11 on the saxophone and within six months was studying with the saxophone professor from St. Marys College. He was mainly a jazz saxophonist so that is when I was introduced to jazz. As a high-schooler I became the lead alto player in the College's Jazz band and combo and was a featured soloist. At the age of 13, I picked up the clarinet and have studied its classical literature. I have studied with Jan Murphy (clarinetist in the president's own marine band), and Dr. Bruce Curlette from Cedarville University. I also have studied the flute for a number of years.
In 2011 I stared my BM degree in saxophone performance at Cedarville University in OH receiving the highest Music scholarship and studied with sax professor, Chester Jenkins. While at Cedarville, I was the lead tenor in the jazz band, principal clarinet in the Symphonic Band and Orchestra, and became the Student associate jazz band director in my Junior year.
I am a perpetual student of music myself, learning new things constantly. I have been teaching private lessons for 5 years. My lessons have included, regular saxophone lessons, jazz improv lessons, and clarinet lessons. I have also tutored students in music theory. During my undergraduate degree, I took music theory and aural skills I-IV.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been studying the clarinet for about eight years now with some of the best instructors including Jan Murphy from the presidents own marine band and Dr. Bruce Curletter form Cedarville University. I won the audition for both the principal clarinet chair in the University's top symphonic band and Orchestra. I also was the runner up for Cedarville University's Concerto Competition two years in a row.
