Originally from the steel mill country of western Pennsylvania, Tennessee has been my home since graduating from Vanderbilt University on a football scholarship and earning my Master's degree from Washington University in St. Louis. My sports background has given me a tremendous work ethic. I've learned to be a true team player through my long athletic and artistic careers. I continue to be influenced by the unique athletic virtues of using my hands, getting dirty, achieving results through perseverance and having an obsessive quest to attain goals that others may have thought hopeless.
I have received national recognition for my sculpture, painting, graphics, books, copywriting and sign manufacturing. I am an energizing public speaker and have lectured and presented seminars throughout the country on scholarship winning art, design, manufacturing processes and public art. I've juried many national and local art exhibitions, projects and scholarship programs. I have been a commercial photographer and videographer for decades. I taught drawing, painting, 2-D design, 3-D design, color fundamentals, graphics, sculpture, welding, photography and art history at four colleges.
My skills on the Macintosh and PC have opened up unlimited possibilities utilizing cross platform interactive design programs and methods with interchangeable technologies. My success and knowledge of design, engineering, graphics, marketing, advertising, printing processes, product procurement and publishing has invigorated my thirst for teaching my experiences to others trying to survive in the world of art and business.
I am an expert in NEC electrical codes and UL 48 Standards for engineering and procedures. I have over thirty years experience in the trade show industry engineering and building booths, displays, signage and worked over forty national trade shows. I've designed and produced interior and exterior signs, graphics, product displays, visual merchandising, POP signage, neon, back lit products for some of the country's largest corporations such as: WalMart, Target, Toys r Us, K Mart, McDonald's, Burger King, Holiday Inn, Marriott Hotels, Office Depot, Lowe's, Home Depot, Auto Zone, Pep Boys, Kroger, Safeway and most of the other large retailers.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
