UL (chemistry and mathematics)
I been tutoring chemistry and math in the metro area of Kansas City for four years now. I have fourteen years experience as a tutor and teacher.I worked with mainly college students, while helping other students from high school would be exciting.I love tutoring and teaching, and always want to make an impact in the academic struggle of students in my community especially in science and math.
I have had the opportunity to work with students from different background especially when i was working at the Penn Valley Community College,Students with all kinds questions in Chemistry and Cell Biology, like in the case of Peggy. She couldn't figure out what was going on in the course and wanted to drop the class. One of the students in the class told her to find me and that I could be of help to her, we met after she had about three weeks to mid term and needed to pass the mid term before she would have any chance of getting at least a C, Moreover, she needed to pass to be able to enroll into her nursing classes. First, I made sure she realized it wasn't too late and that she could still get a good grade if we only looked at the sections of the course she really need help with. We started looking at moles, mass, molar mass, and solutions. We decided that it would be fine if we meet at least a hour for the next three weeks. It worked out, she did some extra work by doing some studies at home and finally she was able to get a B. It was something exciting to the both of us. I love this one on one kind of tutoring because it gives me the chance to understand the weaknesses and strengths of my students. That way, I would know exactly what they need to get good grades. I can promise parents and students that having me as a tutor would surely increase your chance of getting good grades on both home work and exams. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
