Middle Tennessee State University (Vocal Performance)
I've been working as a tutor and as a music teacher for almost 4 years. My passions are languages and music! I'm currently a music performance major and have taken a great deal of music theory and music history classes. From helping you with your English paper to learning a new language or even improving your singing skills, I am excited to help you out with whatever you need!
Spanish is my first language and I have been tutoring it at my university for almost four years! I tutor one-on-one, create labs for students, grade tests, proofread essays, and much more! My approach to teaching Spanish is interactive and applicable. I focus on the three components of learning: auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. Auditory involves comprehension. Visual involves reading. And kinesthetic involves speaking. I tailor my approach to the student's learning style without losing focus of the other important components of learning a language.
English and grammar have been subjects that I have always excelled at. I've taken many writing courses, and I proofread my friends' papers and helped tutor others for the ACT English section. I also teach English as a foreign language to those who are interested in improving their English to prepare for a test or for personal improvement.
As a music major, I have gotten to learn about music theory and music history in detail and have studied voice for many years. I have taken two years of music theory and an additional semester of musical form and analysis. Additionally, I've been studying music history before I began college. I've been studying music history and doing research in musicology for four years. I have been an active performer from a young age and have received singing lessons from very prestigious teachers. I have taught singing lessons under supervision while studying vocal pedagogy and have taken diction classes on foreign languages. My students' ages range from 6 years to adult. They have all had various levels of training--from people who have never sung in their lives to amateurs singers looking for tips on how to improve their singing. I'm excited to teach music to anyone!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I began to learn music history in-depth since I was in high school, when I took my first college-level music history class. In college, I've taken an additional ethnic musicology class and three upper division research music history classes ranging from music of the Middle Ages to contemporary music. I've done special research on music in Burgundian lands and Flemish composers during the transition between music of the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, English Baroque oratorios and their reflection on the political situation of England, and Mozart and Da Ponte's collaborations in opera buffa, especially the hidden meanings left by them.
I can explain music history very simply or go very in-depth if needed. It's a subject I'm very passionate about and have done very well in it. I'm considering getting my master's degree in music history and music performance in order to teach at a university.
I'm a native Spanish speaker and I've been tutoring Spanish for almost 4 years at my previous college. I have passed multiple proficiency tests for my previous job. In addition to tutoring, I graded tests and essays and facilitated Spanish conversation groups and labs.
I'm currently a vocal performance major. I have been taking singing lessons since I was very young and have sung in multiple ensembles. I'm an active performer and have experience in this field. Most importantly, I've taken vocal pedagogy classes, where I had supervised training as a voice teacher, as well as diction for singers in English, Italian, German, French, Latin, and Spanish. Starting a few years ago, I've taught many students with ages ranging from 6 years old to 60+ of varying levels and experience- from beginners who have never sung before to amateur singers who are looking for improve their singing or learn to sing in a new language.
