About Aaron

I am a student, freelance photographer and Regional Senior Director for The 9th Street Workshops (We're a renaissance organization focused on promoting arts and literature in Tennessee).

I was born and raised in Southern Mississippi and there I lived until the winter of 2004 when I moved to Tennessee, having tired of hurricanes. Until my return to the halls of academia in 2012 I worked primarily as a cake decorator and baker.

I have a wide range of interests I pursue through my education and beyond. I've also served as the Chattanooga State Student Government Communications Officer, the Chattanooga State Writer's Association Creative Designer and the Phi Theta Kappa (National 2-Year Honors Society) Vice President of Services. I graduated in 2015 from Chattanooga State with two associates, one in History the other in Photography.

I have served as the Creative Designer for the student literary publication at Chattanooga State. I also served as a tutor in the Andrew's Writing Center at Chattanooga State for two semesters.

I hold a and Associates of Science in History and am currently working toward my Bachelor's Degree.

As a student teacher at Chattanooga State and now at Middle Tennessee State I am currently learning all the latest methods and theories of teaching as well as observing masters in pedagogy (the fancy name for teaching).

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Public Speaking

I was the 2014-2015 Student Government Communications Officer for Chattanooga State College. During this time I regularly had to deliver speeches to student, faculty and administrative assemblies. I studied public speaking as part of my general requirements at Chattanooga State.

Religion

I have studied World Religion at Chattanooga State College and Religious History in America at Middle Tennessee State University. I was Raised Catholic, converted to Hinduism (non-ISKCON) and am married to Buddhist. Middle Tennessee has become a hub for Saudi and Somalian immigrants to the United States and I interact with members of the Coptic Church and Islam on a regular basis.

Social Studies

I am a student teacher of History at Middle Tennessee State University. I hold a degree in History from Chattanooga State. Social studies is more than just current events, it often requires a basic knowledge of phenomenology and psychology. Luckily, psychology is one of my minors.
