About Megan

What I love most about leading others through education is the student-tutor relationship. The most rewarding moment is when I find a way to explain a problem or process to someone in a way that finally makes sense. As learners, we all have very different needs for understanding, and I am steadfast in seeking those needs for the students I engage. I have tutored students in essay writing, grammar, literature, public speaking and more in one-on-one and group situations. I have also facilitated study groups and shared my study skills with my peers in hopes to assist their own education practice. I am a seeker of knowledge, a speaker of the mind-body, and a mover through the elements. In the world of performance, I have spent more than three years traveling across the states to share the art of fire dance and prop based movement arts, in addition to crafting a spoken word style that fuses the lyricism of the page with the ferocity of the stage.
Alongside performances, I have led a multitude of workshops in hoop dancing and manipulation, contact juggling, poetry editing, writing and more. I have worked with a multitude of students ranging from young children to adults.

Having dedicated the continuance of my path to fostering expression and growth in others, I am currently concluding my Bachelor's in English and looking toward the future with willingness and determination. I am consistent and dedicated to my writing and education practice. I constantly work with others to improve my skills. I have received numerous awards and publications through the English department at MTSU, including Dean's List, as well as awards and acknowledgements for my work in the poetry community. I currently volunteer with Southern Word, a poet mentoring organization that works with youth to develop their voices and public speaking skills.

I look forward to helping you improve your writing, literature, and grammar skills. Mostly, however, I look forward to helping you foster an understanding and passion for the process!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Writing

I am currently on the Dean's list for my third semester in a row in my upper division English writing classes. I have worked with numerous high school and college level students to help improve their writing skills, and have received numerous awards for my proficiency and expertise in college level writing - academic and creative.
