I have experienced education as a student, a parent and a teacher. I retired with 34 years of teaching experience in the K-6 elementary classroom and in remedial reading. Outside of the school setting, I have periodically tutored students in elementary and middle school in the summer and

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have 34 years’ experience teaching students enrolled in grades k-6. Twenty-four of those years were in a self-contained classroom. Ten years were in a Title I Remedial Reading pullout class.

I hold a combination of certificates. I am certified to teach all subjects in Pre-K to grade 6, and as a special teacher of reading in grades K-6. I also hold a license as Highly Qualified for math in grades k-6 in addition to all subjects in grades k-6.

I use active participation to make lessons interesting. I use educational games, writing, and hands-on materials to lead my students to success. I use authentic evaluation to monitor and adjust as each lesson progresses. Parents and students are given the opportunity to evaluate my performance as well as the student's progress. My students learn how to learn.

I am certified in all subjects for grades K-9 and as a Special Teacher of Reading in grades K-12. I also am Highly Qualified in elementary subjects and additionally in math for grades K- 12.

I hold a B.S degree in Elementary, Kindergarten, Nursery School Education, I hold a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction (Reading Education). I have 30+ semester hours in math, special education, and related classes from a variety of universities.
