About LindaDawn

I love to teach. I have a Bachelor's of Music degree. I majored in voice & play piano & flute well. I've taught music in both public & private schools. I currently teach private lessons.I really enjoy teaching music history as well.

I started teaching Sunday School at 14. I also taught in a Christian School.

When I was in school I often found myself not understanding what was being taught. Even though all classmates were given a chance to ask if they didn't understand, I feared being laughed at or even worse, still not understanding. Because I struggled with learning so much, I want to help others. I enjoy finding a method that works best for each student. I strive to make learning more enjoyable for students and teach them to believe in themselves. It's a very rewarding feeling when a student looks at me & says "Oh…ok, I get it!"

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

American History

I have a Bachelor of Music degree from Middle Tennessee State university. I had quite a few history courses, both American History and Music History. As of now, history is my favorite subject only second to music. I read as many history books and watch as many historic movies as I can. I love history, especially American history. I feel I am qualified to teach American History.

Bible Studies

I grew up in a devout Christian home. I started teaching Sunday School at 14. I also taught in a Christian School & have been in many Buble Study groups. I'm confident I can teach this subject.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am qualified to teach elementary grades based on several factors. First of all, I was originally studying elementary education in college. I have had classroom experience, as well as classes in children's literature, story telling, and music in the elementary grades. I have completed college course work in math, science, history, writing and child psychology. As for writing, I've had several poems published. I have taught music for grades k-12, so I am capable of handling the elementary grades.

General Music

I have a Bachelor of Music. I majored in voice & play piano & flute well. I've taught music in both public & private schools. I currently teach private lessons. I really enjoy teaching music history as well.

Music History

I have a Bachelor of Music from Middle Tennessee State. I had 2 years of Music History as well as having included Music History in my General Music Classes. I even require private students to research the composer when they perform their music. I'm considering getting a Masters Degree in this subject.

Piano

I have a degree in Voice/Music Industry from Middle Tennessee State University. All Music majors were required to have passed the juries and receive a piano minor. I currently teach piano and voice lessons for a music company and have students who've performed piano pieces in recitals.

Public Speaking

Even though I do not have a degree in speech, I have spent many hours on stage in plays and musicals. I have given seminars on performance anxiety & how to do well in an interview. I was a tour guide and entertainer for the Country Music Hall of Fame, RCA Studio B and Music Row. I gave informative tours, answered questions from tourists and entertained by singing, acting and impersonating country stars. I've helped many students get over being on stage. It is a great fear to conquer.

Reading

I am qualified to teach reading because I have a Bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State University. I was constantly reading literature to discuss in class and be tested on. I had a difficult time as a child with reading. It took special attention to show me how to concentrate, then my reading improved. I would like to help someone in the same situation.

Sight Singing

I have a Bachelor of Music degree from Middle Tennessee State University. My degree was Voice and Music Industry. I spent many practice sessions working on sight singing, ear training and interval identification. I am a voice teacher for a music company and have been for 7 years. I have worked on Solfege with students and have seen their sight singing improve. I am definitely qualified to help students in this subject.

Theatre

I have been in so many musicals and plays that I have lost count. I had 12 hours of undergraduate courses, along with participating in stage productions in college. Since I've graduated from Middle Tennessee State University,I have directed The Sound of Music & 2 other stage productions at two schools in Hendersonville Tennessee. I am currently a Drama teacher for a Music Company.

Vocabulary

I think I am qualified to teach vocabulary because I have a Bachelors degree from Middle Tennessee State University. There were dozens of words introduced to me everyday. I enjoy learning new words and teaching them to students. Being a teacher of music in the classroom and privately, there are continuous opportunities to define a word. I like having the student explain the word's meaning back to me. That way I can be sure they really understand it. I would enjoy helping a student with vocabulary.

Voice (Music)

I majored in Voice and Music Industry at Middle Tennessee.University. I was required to do a vocal jury at the end of every semester as well as perform a vocal recital before graduation I studied vocal music in English, Italian, German and French. I had classes in music diction, sight singing and ear training. I have.been teaching.voice for a music company for seven years. I sing in music theater productions and choral performances. In addition to teaching, I also plan to record a CD in the future. I am definitely qualified to teach voice. I received a Bachelor of Music with voice as my emphasis.
