After retiring from 31+ years of teaching K-6th grade in public schools, I found I missed the interactions with students. I had always loved teaching, loved my students, and loved the challenge of teaching students how to learn, so I began my tutoring service. My master's degree thesis was in the area of learning styles, and I enjoy teaching each student according to his/her individual needs.
I have been tutoring since 2010 and have many satisfied parents, students, and teachers who will be glad to provide references for me.
With your permission, I will contact your child's teacher(s) to help him/her become a successful student.
I have daytime openings for home-school students, a few after-school openings for students on regular school schedules, and can provide on-line tutoring in some subjects.
I offer a variety of services including reading/language arts remediation and support for struggling students through 8th grade, small-group creative writing instruction, math remediation and support through 6th grade, homework support, parent/teacher conference participation, accelerated lessons for advanced students through 6th grade, ESL (English as a Second Language) for pre-school-2nd grade, and adult literacy and computer skills
My teaching license is current and I have 33.5 years combined classroom and tutoring experience.
Discounts given for small groups, advance payment, and multiple weekly sessions.
Please contact me for more information. After the first session with your child, I will tell you if I think he/she is a good fit for my skill set. If not, I will make recommendations for other tutors or programs that may be more beneficial. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
