University of Memphis (Elementary Education)
My name is Ashley and I am a first grade teacher in Shelby County. I graduated with honors from the University of Memphis in 2013. I am currently in my third year of teaching and I am looking forward to many more! I love teaching and watching my students grow academically. It is truly amazing to witness that moment when one of my students "gets it." I am seeking opportunities to tutor children during the summer months, but I am willing to tutor a few hours a week during the school year as well (not during school hours of course). Not only do I have experience teaching, but I worked as a summer camp counselor while I was in college.
I am newly married as of last July. We do not have any children of my own yet, but we do have two fur babies that I love dearly.
I'm currently highly qualified by the state of Tennessee in mathematics and language arts. I have three years of teaching experience. I have also attended several professional development sessions to expand my knowledge on reading strategies and implementing new techniques to help my students become better readers.
I have three years of teaching experience which includes teaching Common Core and the new TNcore standards. I plan and implement lessons daily to teach and help my students master the complexity of the CCSS.
I have three years of experience teaching first and second grade. I also have countless hours of field experience working with students at the elementary level. Being a first grade teacher, phonics is heavily taught to help students become fluent readers.
I would love the opportunity to help your child grow and advance in their areas of need. I am hoping to tutor regularly during the summer to help children retain the information they learned and learn new concepts to prepare for the upcoming school year. My goal is to help your child close their areas of deficit and/or provide enrichment to help your child excel for the next school year. Please contact me to learn more and schedule sessions. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
