About Keaston

My love of education (likely due to the number of educators in my family) set in motion a series of events culminating in my current educational and professional successes. I decided to pursue a Masters of Science in Psychology, concentrating in Developmental Psychology, to further my understanding of how a person learns and develops across the lifespan. Simultaneously, I maintained a profession that allowed me the opportunity to train and develop managers and associates in a retail sales atmosphere. This professional experience affected my decision to return to the classroom, this time as an instructor.

As a graduate student at the University of Memphis, I had the opportunity to teach a Psychological Statistics Lab as part of a graduate assistantship. I learned through this experience that each student brings with them a unique educational history and skill set. Having to adapt my teaching style according to the student's ability for such a difficult subject was a challenge I enjoyed undertaking.

Since that time, I have focused my teaching philosophy around individuals who need alternative methods of instruction. Individuals do not all learn the same way, and I have prided myself on my ability to adapt my instructional style to the method best understood by the student. My time with students is very rewarding. Seeing them grow and learning to take charge of their education is why I continue to work in education.

I am currently a teacher and tutor at a private school, focusing on individualized education in English, Math, History, Social Studies, test prep, Psychology, Criminal Justice, and other subjects. I have been teaching at the elementary, secondary, and post secondary levels for over 4 years.

I have tutored ACT Math for over two years, resulting in my students raising test scores an average of three to four points.

I have tutored ACT Science for over two years, resulting in my students raising test scores an average of two to four points.

I have tutored ACT English and Reading for over two years, resulting in my students raising test scores an average of four to five points for Reading and five to six points for English.

If you want to learn more about solid test prep strategies and improve subject scores all around, please contact me to schedule a time to begin your sessions.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
