I have been teaching almost 9 years. I am a special education teacher. I have taught general education and special education students. I have success in with both. As a special education teacher I understand that all students whether they are special ed or general education have different modalities of learning. I understand differentiating so that my students are confident and hunger for knowledge.
I taught homebound for 3 years during my tenure as a teacher from 2007-2010. I currently tutor at my school during my planning period. I tutor in 6-8 Reading Language Arts as well a writing. My students enjoy learning. I always love it when my students tell me there is no way they can write a minimum of 30 students. Within the first 2 weeks they write beyond the minimum of 30 sentences, which basically equates to 5 paragraphs that include an intro, 3 supporting details, and a conclusion. For both Lang Arts and Writing I always use a graphic organizer to help them organize their thoughts.
What I love most about tutoring is the one on one time that I have to help instill confidence in all my students. I remind them over and over that I believe in them, thusly causing them to believe in themselves more.
I think I am outstanding Teacher because I am currently a level 4 teacher. I take pride in my student's learning and

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My certification is special ed modified K-12. I understand that some ADD/ADHD require constant prompting to complete assignments. I also understand the importance of maintaining appropriate classroom management for an environment conducive for learning. I also differentiate assignments and give directions in multiple formats. It is very important to keep diverse learners engaged. Some learners are visual, audio, AND kinesthetic learners.
I currently teach 3 children that are on the autism spectrum in a classroom with other SWD. I understand how IEP's are tailored to the learner's needs. I also understand that students with autism need a lot of structure and consistency to learn.
My endorsement is special ed modified K-12. I currently teach multiple disabilities such as autistic children, children that are ID, as well as language impaired. I can differentiate my lessons to reach all learners. I have taught inclusion algebra, inclusion language arts, ranging from k-12. I understand that all children learn differently.
