University of Memphis (Graduate Coursework)
My name is Megan, and I am currently earning my Master's of Foreign Language from the University of Memphis. Part of my work is tutoring and teaching French to university students. I have my Bachelor's degree in both French and Japanese language studies and have been learning about cultural aspects (dance, cuisine, festivals, religion, and customs) since 2007.
Learning a language should be fun and exciting! I don't believe in boring repetition and continuous memorization. I like games, practicing in conversation, and developing skills that help you in real life situations.
I use quizzes every session to assess where my student falls in their learning process. These are not to discourage you but to challenge you to learn more. I always practice conversation, and I always try to provide multiple explanations of how to use grammar.
I've worked with all ages, from 4-45 years old. I have helped middle school students move forward in their Japanese language, and they are now excelling in their classes. I work hard, but I do expect you to put in effort, too.
I have minored in photography and have had years of experience in and out of a portrait studio. If you want to learn, I want to teach!
Hope to meet you soon!

Megan is a great tutor. She makes otherwise difficult language concepts easy to understand, but also provides challenging learning activities (like conversation and reading comprehension) that solidify new skills.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
