About Ruth

I love spending time hanging out with children and youth. As an ordained Presbyterian minister- and in my current career role as a Foster Care Counselor- one of my favorite things to do is to help others learn how to embrace all of life's opportunities. Those opportunities often begin with education and understanding how much fun learning can be! I've taught both pre-school and high school, directed a large child care program and worked with children, youth and young adults in countless educational settings. My undergraduate degree is in child and family studies, psychology and religion. I hold a Masters in Divinity. I am an AmeriCorps national service alumnae where I worked for a year doing child abuse prevention and education in Memphis, TN. My approach to teaching in any context is to build a rapport with my student(s), calmly embrace the task at hand and help them see how exciting learning and using new knowledge can be in their world.
