I have been a professional tutor since 2007, specializing in math and reading for grades 3-7. My biggest goal is for my students to become confident and independent. I joke that my job is to work myself out of a job! I have a lot of positive energy when I tutor. I tutor online and in person at my office.

I have been a professional tutor since 2007, specializing in math and reading for grades 3-7. My biggest goal is for my students to become confident and independent. I joke that my job is to work myself out of a job! I have a lot of positive energy when I tutor. I tutor online and in person at my office.

My favorite math skills to teach are long division, fractions, decimals, percents, GCF/LCM, order of operations, and distributive property. I use manipulatives and real world examples when I can to help students grasp concepts.

For reading, My emphasis is on fluency, accuracy, comprehension, efficiency, vocabulary, and spelling. My focus in college was correcting reading disorders. I have had quite a bit of training in phonics and handwriting. I also enjoy teaching parts of speech for ELA.

I have a lot of experience with students who are on the spectrum and those with ADHD. I tutor children (and adults) with dyslexia and dyscalculia. I enjoy working with children who really struggle with math and/or reading. It feels like a puzzle to me, to find the missing pieces that fill in the gaps that open the gate to understanding.

I received my degree in elementary education and I am passionate about tutoring elementary and middle school math and reading. I also help students with science and social studies, and I often find that the root of the problem is in reading comprehension and vocabulary. Many of my students are in public school, some are in private schools, and I also enjoy working with homeschoolers on exactly what their parents request.

I tutor on my own about 10 -15 hours a week. I tutor exactly what parents request. My favorite math skills to tutor are long division, fractions, decimals, percents, GCF, LCM, distributive property, and rates and ratios. For reading, I focus on fluency, vocabulary, sight words, comprehension, rate, and phonics as needed. I use a spelling curriculum that was designed for dyslexics. This spelling curriculum also helps with reading. My reading strategies have helped students with diagnosed spelling and reading issues including dyslexia.
