In highschool, I would tutor my peers individually in math, and help them in class for all subjects I shared with them. In my casual but thorough approach to math specifically, I was able to help a peer raise their grade from a D to a B in a month. In highschool, I would tutor my peers individually in math, and help them in class for all subjects I shared with them. In my casual but thorough approach to math specifically, I was able to help a peer raise their grade from a D to a B in a month. I am part of the VolsTeach program at the University of Tennessee, and am double majoring in Mathematics and Latin. Through the VolsTeach program I have observed professional teachers in action, and have taught three middle school lessons which I and a partner designed.

I have been an instructor at a martial arts center for more than four years, not just as an assistant, but teaching entire classes of up to 30 students. These students are aged anywhere from 5-18. A key part in my teaching is being able to talk about the material with the student, trying to make them laugh, learn, and care about it if I can. I am super passionate about teaching and actually discovered my love of it from tutoring my high school peers.

I aced all of my math classes, but I can still look at concepts critically to break it down into digestible chunks. Aka, I will take the time to actually help you see what is going on with the concept, not just regurgitate information at you.

After my Latin class in junior year of high school, my teachers and professors kept pushing me into higher level Latin classes until I realized I was just as passionate about it as I was Math. I have translated two full books of the Aeneid. I have many mnemonic devices to help with the memorization of declensions and conjugations, and I can help you see derivatives to learn the meanings of the words themselves.

Although my subjects are not the most popular, I strive to make the content not only understandable, but fun. Aka, I make a joke out of everything and love to make people laugh whilst learning. Hope you like puns.

Algebra 1

I am a math major at UTK, and I am studying to become a high school math teacher. I’m in the VolsTeach program and have designed and taught three honors Algebra I lessons in a real middle school classroom, as well as several other lessons of varying subjects to my college peers for critiquing. In high school I privately tutored some of my peers for their geometry and trigonometry classes. I invite you to see my profile if you would like to review these and other details about my qualifications, but these are the most relevant to Algebra I.

Algebra 2

I am studying mathematics at UTK in order to teach high school math. I am doing this through the VolsTeach program. In this program I have already had the opportunity to design and teach three Honors Algebra I (not II) lessons in a real middle school classroom, as well as teach other such lessons to my peers for feedback. In high school, I privately tutored two of my peers in geometry and trigonometry. I encourage you to see my profile for more details about my credentials, and I look forward to helping your child should you allow me.
