Hello! I’m Michael. I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee in Materials Science and Engineering. I have worked as a ceramic engineer for an aerospace manufacturing company where I became a black belt in Lean Six Sigma statistics. I am currently enrolled at UT as I’m working on my PhD degree in nuclear engineering.
When tutoring with a student, I like to go through the topic and theory and try to make an application of it to the real world. I’ve found that students learn more when they understand why the topic is important. Once the topic and theory are covered, I show step by step how to do a problem, then we’ll do a few problems together. Near the end, I like to have the student walk me through a problem on their own and act like they are teaching it to me. This tends to solidify the information with the student.
I have tutored individuals and groups in many different math, science, engineering, and statistics courses. I can help with almost any STEM class or ACT preparation. I have tutored everything from Algebra 1 in inner city high freshmen to mentoring, to undergraduate students in STEM classes and manufacturing engineers in Lean Six Sigma statistics.
If you’re curious about your class, shoot me a message and I’ll answer your question as soon as I can.
