Centre College (Government)
Graduate from the University of Pittsburgh (Master's)
Hi! My name is Rachel, and I am a recent graduate looking to help others in their studies. I love exploring the world and discussing international relations and current events. I have a B.A. in government from Centre College and an M.A. in public and international affairs from the University of Pittsburgh. I've also gone to school in both France and China, so I have a wide range of educational experiences. My areas of expertise include: writing, reading, political science, history and international relations. I am also happy to review resumes and cover letters, and help students develop better research skills.
Previously, I have had the pleasure of tutoring K-6 students through a volunteer after school program connected to my college. I have also been a summer camp counselor for children ages 8-16 and an AYSO soccer coach for both U-10 and U-12 teams. I think that this diverse instructional experience helps me engage with a wider variety of students and come up with creative ways to address challenges.
Many of my classes in both my undergraduate and graduate careers have required strong reading comprehension and critical analytical skills and the ability to clearly and thoroughly communicate ideas through both written and oral mediums. I also have a strong background in research and analysis.
I would be an excellent tutor for government, politics, and international theory, because I have spent six years studying these topics at both an undergraduate and graduate level of education. I also love talking about these topics and would enjoy the opportunity to share ideas with students.
If you think we would be a good match please feel free to contact me. I usually check my email multiple times a day, so I should get back to you within a few hours (certainly no more than 24 hours). Looking forward to hearing from you! Hi! My name is Rachel, and I am a recent graduate looking to help others in their studies. For multiple hour lessons, I'm happy to reduce my rate to $40 per hour. For group rate, I require a $45 for the first student and $20 for each additional student (3 students max).
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I played soccer for about 10 years (recreation, competitive, and high school varsity). I've played every position before although I'm more experienced with defensive and center positions. I've also coached two AYSO soccer teams (U-10 boys and U-12 girls), so I have experience explaining the game and coming up with strategies for improvement.
I used to do swim team growing up so I know how to do proper stroke and diving techniques. I have also led swim activity periods at summer camps. Also, I can keep swimmers safe because I am lifeguard certified via Red Cross. I've even led some lifeguard in-service sessions to practice life saving skills.
